I have lived in the Stonhams, with my husband, for over twenty-five years. I have a background in computers and process improvement and have worked to streamline and automate the working practices of large organisations. I am a keen genealogist and specialise in the historical records of the local area.
I was first elected to Mid Suffolk District Council in 2015 and served until 2023. I have been Chair of the Audit & Standards Committee and Cabinet Member for Organisational Delivery. From 2019 to 2023 I was Cabinet Member for Customers, Digital Transformation & Improvement and the Leader of Mid Suffolk District Council.
I was really proud that Mid Suffolk District Council did not have to cut any services during the last 4 years to 2023, despite the pandemic, and we froze Council Tax for the final 2 years. We were able to do this as we had a diverse portfolio of investments – the income from which subsidised our services. We also invested in our Market Towns and had ambitious plans for regeneration projects – such as the SHELF Project and the Skills & Innovation Centre at Gateway 14 – all aimed at providing local jobs and local initiatives for local people. We also did our bit with our green initiatives and have won awards for our tree planting and online mapping – and all the time remembering that we have a cost-of-living crisis where we are playing a leading part in helping our residents make the most of our resources.
I am now the Webmaster for the Association and can be contacted on [email protected] or 07976 927226.
