Let us set the record straight on the Environment agenda.
The Greens want us all to get rid of our cars and ban flying
The Lib Dems and Greens campaign against and criminalise renewable energy because it is not “green.”
We Tories, on the other hand, are acting not talking.
Through the leadership of our Cabinet Member, James Mallinder, are converting all of our vehicles to electric or HVO and are saving 90% of our carbon output.
Under Richard Kerry’s stewardship of the Housing portfolio, we are building homes to passive standards where little or no heating is required.
We have approved a new solar farm which will save 11,000 tons of carbon each year and provide electricity for 16,500 homes.
We will work to gain the maximum benefits from national energy projects such as Sizewell C and Scottish Power offshore windfarms for our residents including hundreds of local jobs and apprenticeships, plus opportunities for local businesses to benefit from increased orders for their products and services.
All of this in addition to our policies of re-wilding, less verge cutting and our ‘Feeding the Bees’ projects to increase biodiversity throughout the district. We have on the Table a new district wide network of walking and cycling routes for residents’ health and wellbeing.
All of this is within the control of and being implemented by East Suffolk Council.
This Conservative administration at East Suffolk Council wants life to still be worth living after we have achieved our goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
Your Conservative District Councillors have been elected to make a positive difference for our 250,000 residents, our visitors and the generations that will follow on behind.
The Opposition parties might put forward motions and issue media releases demanding change to ‘supposed’ national policies to fuel their political agenda, but this administration will always focus on the needs of our residents and, at this time, particularly the climate emergency and the cost-of-living crisis.
