Appointed as Deputy Chair - Political at the AGM on 17th May 2024.
Steven grew up in Occold and studied at University College of Suffolk.
To fund his way through education, at just 19 he started his first business. Since then, he has built several businesses, providing hundreds of people with employment opportunities both here in Suffolk and in Northern Ireland.
Until injuries stopped him, he used to play Rugby at a competitive level for Woodbridge and then Ipswich Rugby club.
Due to a damaged eye, Steven failed the medical when he volunteered for the RAF Regiment Auxiliary Force in 2002. Despite this set back he was still keen to serve both his community and country. This is when he decided to enter politics. Steven has served as a Borough Councillor and as a Portfolio holder. As a Councillor he currently represents Whitton Parish at Claydon and Whitton Parish Council. Since entering semi-retirement at 43, he has been able to spend more time on helping the community and fund raising for Charities. Feb 2023 he completed the Artic Survival Challenge in North Sweden where the temperature was as low as -24degrees. Part of the challenge was to live and sleep in the open with the only shelter being snow and vegetation. By doing this, he managed to raise £2022 for the Royal British Legion.
Steven considers that he has been fortunate with the opportunities which society has provided him with. By continuing to use his skill sets and experience for the benefit of charities and in community representation, he hopes to, in some way, repay that.
