After a 7 year campaign by Castle Hill Councillor Ian Fisher to keep a small, but well used park at Sherrington Road on the upgrade list. His persistence has paid off and a new Story Book themed park is now open to the public.
Cllr Fisher says “Sometimes it can be demoralising being a Cllr with how long things take to get done but it makes the little victories much sweeter when they do happen. Working with the communities that you represent is what we are here to do and my thanks go to all involved who helped make this happen."
Fellow Castle Hill Councillor Sam Murray, who worked with the IBC Officers on the design, is pleased to see the additions of inclusive boards and the requested extensions to the seating areas for wheelchair users.
Councillor Sam Murray says “My thanks for the parks team for an excellent design. Its been a pleasure to see another park in our area completed. A special thanks to my friend and colleague Ian Fisher for making sure this park did not disappear off of the upgrade list as it was under threat multiple times.”
Councillor Sam Murray also added she looks forward to the planting of sensory plants when the weather improves to further enhance the senses of little people with large imaginations.
